About ArtMate

ArtMate is a complex asset sponsor designed to help collectors, advisors, banks, and auction houses unlock the charitable potential of works of art.

We partner with financial institutions, donor-advised fund programs, auction houses, and estate planning professionals to facilitate gifts of artwork and other complex assets. By managing the practical, legal, and administrative steps involved in accepting, holding, documenting, and liquidating art, ArtMate helps turn historically illiquid assets into charitable capital.

For collectors and their advisors, ArtMate provides a more thoughtful path for integrating artwork into estate, philanthropic, and tax planning strategies. For banks and wealth platforms, ArtMate offers a specialized solution for clients whose collections require more than a standard charitable giving vehicle.

Where appropriate, ArtMate may also support related-use opportunities, including exhibition loans, educational partnerships, and public-facing programming, helping preserve the cultural value of artworks while advancing philanthropic goals.

ArtMate was founded by Sarah Lehat, who has directed artists’ estates and led foundations, most recently as Executive Director of Tel Aviv Museum’s American Friends (TAMAF) and Director of Development at American Friends of the Louvre.
